Game Day Ready

Walk onto the field confident and prepared with your data-backed game plan.

The Prepared Coach

When kickoff arrives, you've done the work. Game Day Ready is about having all your preparation organized and accessible so you can focus on coaching, not scrambling for information.

Pre-Game Checklist

Know Your Team

Before the game, review your own tendencies:

  • What's working - Your highest success rate plays and formations
  • Situational strengths - Where you execute best
  • Player matchups - Who's performing well, who needs support
  • Key plays - Your go-to calls for critical situations

Know Your Opponent

Have these answers ready:

  • Their base defense/offense - What will you see most often?
  • Tendency triggers - What tips their hand? (Formation, personnel, alignment)
  • Blitz/pressure patterns - When do they attack?
  • Exploitable weaknesses - Where can you attack?

Have Your Adjustments Ready

Pre-plan your responses:

If They Show...We Will...
Heavy man coverageRun quick game, use motion
Soft zoneAttack intermediate zones
Overloaded boxSpread them out, use screens
PressureHot routes, quick passes

Keep it simple and scannable:

Creating the Wristband

  1. Go to Game Week > Wristband Builder
  2. Your call sheet plays auto-populate
  3. Assign short codes (2-3 characters) to each play
  4. Organize by situation category
  5. Print to wristband-sized format

Wristband Best Practices

  • Use consistent codes - Same abbreviations every game
  • Limit choices - 3-5 plays per situation max
  • Number system - First digit = situation, second = play option
  • Practice with it - QB should use wristband in practice

Coach's Sideline Sheet

A larger format for the play-caller with more detail:

OPPONENT TENDENCIES
- 1st Down: 60% run, favor inside zone
- 3rd & Medium: 70% Cover 3, 30% blitz
- Red Zone: Heavy sets, power run

CALL SHEET BY SITUATION
[Full play names with formation and motion calls]

ADJUSTMENTS
- vs Cover 3: Attack seams, use out routes
- vs Man: Motion to create picks, quick game
- vs Pressure: Slide protection, hot routes

KEY REMINDERS
- Their #24 is their best cover corner
- They substitute on 3rd down - watch for nickel
- QB likes to scramble right under pressure

Printing Options

Export your preparation materials:

  • Full Call Sheet - Letter size, detailed
  • QB Wristband - Wristband card format
  • Sideline Reference - Laminated coaching sheet
  • Adjustment Card - Quick if/then reference

In-Game Adjustments

First Quarter Observations

Use the first quarter to validate your preparation:

  • Are they doing what you expected?
  • What's different from the film?
  • What adjustments do you need to make?

Halftime Analysis

At halftime, quickly review:

  • What's working? Do more of it.
  • What's not working? Adjust or abandon.
  • What are they doing differently? Counter it.

Second Half Execution

Apply your adjustments:

  • Call plays that attack what you're seeing
  • Avoid plays that aren't working
  • Trust your preparation

Post-Game: Complete the Cycle

After the game, the cycle continues:

Immediate Notes

While it's fresh, note:

  • What adjustments worked?
  • What didn't go as planned?
  • What do you need to practice?

Film Review Priorities

When you review film:

  • Tag the game for your analytics
  • Identify coaching points for players
  • Note opponent tendencies for future reference

Update Your Data

Your post-game film tagging:

  • Updates your team's analytics
  • Adds to your play-by-play history
  • Improves future game preparation

The Confidence of Preparation

When you walk onto the field:

  • You've studied your opponent thoroughly
  • You know your team's strengths and weaknesses
  • You have data-backed play calls for every situation
  • You've practiced against realistic looks
  • You have adjustments ready for what they'll show

This is the competitive advantage of preparation. You're not guessing - you're making informed decisions based on evidence.
